There has been much discussion about the weakening U.S. economy and where it is headed next. In the past year, as bad news got worse, talk of recession became widespread. Lately, however, with GDP growth marginally positive and some widely-watched indicators showing readings above consensus estimates, many have shifted to a view that the economy has dodged the recession bullet.
ECRI’s new study examines in depth the performance of reliable coincident and leading economic indicators to assess the outlook for the U.S. economy. The results unambiguously settle the debate on the likelihood of a U.S. recession.
